A trip through Rahul Dravid's Test Career

1996 - Debuted for India against
England at Lords. Scored 95 in that
match.
1997 - Scored his first ever test against
RSA at Johannesburg. RSA was almost
beaten in that match.
1999 - Became only the 2nd Indian to
score 100s in both the innings ofa
test. Gavaskar was the other Indian.
2001 - Was involved in a record
partnership with V.V.S.Laxman to help
India beat Australia after being asked
to follow on. Only 3 teams have ever
won a test after following on. And I still
regard this knock as his best ever.
2002 - Scored 100s in 4 successive test
innings. Had he scored one more he
would have equaled the world record
held by WI great Everton Weekes.
2003 - Played one of his greatest
matches ever. Scored 233 & 72* ,
helped India script one of their famous
victories in Australia.
2004 - Led Team India to their first ever
victory in Pakistan. Also scored his
career best score of 270 in the same
series.
2004 - Was awarded with the ICC
player of the year and the ICC test
player of the year.
2004 - Scored a hundred against
Bangladesh,became the first ever
player to score 100s in all the test
playing countries.
2005 - Scored 100s in both the innings
of a test again. Both Dravid and
Gavaskar have done it 2 times.
2005 - Became a regular captain for
the Indian test and ODI team
2006 - Led India to a test series victory
in WI after 35 years. Led from the front
by scoring 2 match winning 50s in the
Kingston test which was a graveyard
for batsmen. Was awarded with the
MOM and the MOS.
2006 - Led Team India to their first ever
test victory in SA.
2007 - Led Team India to a test series
victory in England after 21 years.
2008 - Became just the 2nd Indian and
the 6th player to reach 10000 runs in
test matches.
2010 - Became the first ever player to
take 200 catches in test matches. He
still holds the record for the highest
number of catches by fielder in tests.
2011 - Scored a 100 opening against
England and carried his bat till the end
which happened to be one of his finest
knocks.
2011 - Became just the 2nd player to
reach 13000 runs in test matches.
2011 - Finished the year as the top
scorer in tests scoring 1145 runs.
2012 - Announced his retirement from
test matches bring an end to a glorious
career that lasted for 16 years.
